ProAddiction Hair Treatment

Miami humidity is the reason most people first ask us about smoothing treatments. You blow-dry, you step outside, and ten minutes later it is as if you never bothered. ProAddiction is the treatment we reach for most often in that conversation — but it gets sold online as a miracle, so here is the honest version from the chair.

What ProAddiction actually is

ProAddiction is a formaldehyde-free smoothing and reconstructing treatment. It works in two directions at once: it seals and smooths the cuticle so the hair lies flat and reflects light, and it puts protein back into the hair shaft, which is the part people forget.

That second half matters. A treatment that only smooths is cosmetic — it flattens the outside and washes off. ProAddiction is doing repair work at the same time, which is why hair usually feels stronger rather than just slicker afterwards.

What it does

Controls frizz and cuts your styling time. The cuticle is sealed, so humidity has far less to grab. For most guests the practical result is not “poker straight” — it is that a blow-dry takes half as long and survives the walk to the car.

Lasts three to six months. How long depends on your hair type, how often you wash, and what you wash with. Fine hair on the lower end, coarse or very curly hair on the higher end.

Works with color. The formaldehyde-free formula is gentle enough for color-treated hair, which is the main reason we use it — a lot of our guests are blonde, and blonde hair cannot take a harsh smoothing service.

Can be dialed to what you want. This is the part people do not expect. ProAddiction is customizable: it can be taken all the way to straight, or taken just far enough to remove frizz and keep your curl pattern intact. You tell your stylist which one you are after at the consultation — it is the single most important thing you will say that day.

What it doesn’t do

It is not a permanent straightener, and it is not a chemical relaxer. It softens and smooths; it does not restructure your hair’s bonds forever. It grows out gradually rather than leaving a hard line, which is a feature, not a shortcoming.

It also will not fix damage that needs cutting off. If your ends are compromised, a treatment makes them behave better for a while — but the honest answer is often a treatment and a cut.

ProAddiction vs a keratin treatment

They live in the same family, and we offer both. The practical difference our guests care about: ProAddiction is formaldehyde-free and leans more toward repair plus smoothing, so it is the safer default for colored, lightened, or already-fragile hair. A traditional keratin smoothing treatment leans harder into straightening.

If you are blonde or have had lightening done, we will almost always steer you to ProAddiction. If your hair is virgin, coarse, and you want maximum straightening, keratin is worth discussing.

Making it last

• Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Non-negotiable. Sulfates strip the treatment out fastest.
• Rinse after the ocean or the pool. Chlorine and salt both pull at it — rinse and use a hydrating mask the same day.
• Book the touch-up before you need it. Every four to six months keeps it continuous instead of starting over.

What it costs and how to book

The Pro-Addiction Treatment is $575 on our menu, and it is unhurried work — plan for a long appointment rather than squeezing it into a lunch break.
