Nine miles from Hollywood Beach straight down A1A, about half an hour. Twelve miles from downtown Hollywood by I-95 or Federal Highway, thirty to forty minutes.
Worth knowing before you set off: Hollywood Beach is closer to us than downtown Hollywood, and the two trips share almost no road. From the beach you simply stay on A1A the whole way, down South Ocean Drive, through Golden Beach, into Sunny Isles and on to Bal Harbour — no highway and no toll. From downtown you are better on I-95 or Federal Highway heading south. People often assume the inland route is the fast one from the beach. It is not.
Hollywood is the longest drive of anywhere we serve, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise. What we do about it is practical: we hold longer blocks for guests coming from Broward, and we will happily put color, a cut and a treatment into one visit rather than three, so the journey is amortized across the work. Tell us where you are driving from when you book and we will build the appointment around it.
A detail that marks out a real local: Hollywood’s east-west streets are named for presidents in the order they served, running south to north, twenty-seven of them from Washington up to Coolidge, who happened to be in office when the city incorporated in 1925. Not alphabetical, which is the common mistake. Between that, the two and a half miles of the Broadwalk and the murals around downtown, it is a city that rewards knowing it slightly better than a visitor does.
