Keratin Treatment in Miami

Keratin vs Hair Botox

They get booked interchangeably, but they are not the same service, and choosing the wrong one is usually where the disappointment comes from. Both smooth the hair. Both fight frizz. The difference is in what they actually change — and in Miami, where the humidity is a daily opponent rather than an occasional one, that difference decides which one you should be sitting in the chair for.

Here is the honest head-to-head, from someone who does both every week.

What keratin does

A keratin treatment — often called a Brazilian blowout or keratin smoothing treatment — works the structure of the hair. Heat is used to bond a keratin solution into the cuticle, which relaxes the curl pattern and seals the surface so it reflects light instead of puffing up.

The key word is straightens. A keratin treatment will take a wave to loose, a loose curl to mostly straight, and a tight curl to a softer, more defined version of itself. It does not permanently remove texture, but it meaningfully reduces it for three to five months, depending on your hair and how you maintain it.

What hair botox does

Hair botox is a misleading name — there is no botulinum toxin in it, and no one injects anything. It is a deep conditioning treatment loaded with proteins, amino acids, and smoothing agents that fill in damage rather than restructure curl.

The honest distinction: botox smooths frizz but does not really straighten texture. If your hair is wavy, it will still be wavy — just smoother, shinier, and far less puffy at the cuticle. It is closer to an intense repair treatment than a straightening service, and the effect lasts about two to three months.

What each actually suits

Choose keratin if you want your curl or wave relaxed and your hair easier to flat-iron or air-dry straight; you are willing to commit to sulfate-free aftercare to keep it; or you fight the same frizz halo every single day and want the texture itself to calm down.

Choose hair botox if your main problem is damage and dullness rather than curl; you have color-treated or heat-damaged hair that needs repair as much as smoothing; or you want your waves to stay waves, just better-behaved ones.

And a South Florida note that matters more than anywhere else: if you want straight hair that stays straight in July, keratin is the one that moves the needle. Botox will make a Miami July more manageable, but it will not hold a wave straight the way a keratin treatment does.

What each costs here

Our prices are the same on this page, on Google, and in our booking system:

  • Keratin — $450, two hours.
  • Hair Botox — $300, ninety minutes.
  • PRO Addiction Smoothing Treatment — $575, two hours, for hair that needs the strongest smoothing plus serious repair.

Keratin costs more up front because it is a longer, more involved service that restructures the hair. Botox is gentler on the wallet because it is gentler on the hair — it conditions more than it changes.

What nobody tells you about aftercare

Keratin comes with rules. Sulfate-free shampoo, ideally no washing for the first few days, and you are protecting an investment — swim in the ocean or the pool, and the treatment thins out faster. Botox is far more forgiving; it is essentially a conditioning reset, and it fades gradually rather than needing to be “maintained” the same way.

That is the practical reason the choice matters. If you cannot keep the aftercare, you are paying keratin money for botox results.

The Miami humidity angle

Both services were built for exactly the climate we live in — keratin for texture that fluffs up the second you step outside, botox for cuticles that drink moisture and go dull. The honest answer to “which one for Miami?” is: keratin for curl, botox for damage. If you are not sure which one your hair is actually asking for, that is a five-minute consultation question, not a guess you should make in the booking flow.
